Keep Everything Clean

Your air filter, intake vent, and hose (and heat exchangers on screw compressors) all need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Air filters are a crucial component; having a build-up of dirt on your air filters means your compressor is under unnecessary exertion.

Check Your Compressor Components

Compressors work hard. So, checking the integrity of your components for degradation is essential. For example, inspect hoses weekly for rust, corrosion, or cracking; tighten any loose nuts and bolts; examine seals on fittings. Replace anything that is damaged or worn out.

Drain Your Tanks

Every few months, make sure you drain the moisture tanks and even more frequently if you work in humid environments.

Change Your Compressor Oil

When was the last time you checked and changed the oil? Compressor oil helps to prevent overheating and general wear and tear of parts – increasing the life of your compressor. Follow the OEM instructions for the type and how often you need to change the oil. See here for more information.

Clean your fuel tank

Prolong your engine’s life by cleaning the fuel tank. Again, follow the OEM instructions, which should help keep your engine running optimally.

Air audits identify issues with your compressed air system that may impede your production outputs and increase your energy costs. Getting a compressor technician to conduct an air audit periodical will ensure your compressed air demand matches your supply.
