Built for the Coast: Custom EQ18 Compressor Packages

Case Study: Built for the Coast: Custom EQ18 Compressor Packages

Industry: Mining

The Challenge

One of Australia’s largest mining companies required compressed air equipment for a port facility operating in harsh coastal conditions, including high salinity, moisture, and exposure to the elements. Standard compressor packages would not deliver the durability or corrosion protection needed for long-term reliability. The system also needed to integrate with site communication infrastructure and be fully tested prior to delivery to avoid on-site delays.

The Solution

Pneumatic Engineering supplied two customised ELGi EQ18 compressor packages, each mounted on an air receiver and paired with refrigeration dryers to maintain air quality. Additional weatherproofing and protective cabinet coatings were applied to reduce corrosion risk and extend equipment life in the coastal environment.

Electrical upgrades were completed to enable connection to the client’s site communication system, allowing improved monitoring and integration. Both units were fully Factory Acceptance Tested (FAT) with site inspectors present to confirm performance and compliance before dispatch.

Results

The delivered systems provided the client with reliable, site-ready compressed air solutions engineered for coastal port conditions. FAT testing ensured smooth commissioning and immediate operational readiness, demonstrating Pneumatic Engineering’s capability to deliver tailored compressed air packages for demanding industrial environments.
