Sustainability is no longer just a corporate buzzword—it is a strategic imperative for businesses aiming for long-term success. Integrating sustainable practices reduces environmental impact, enhances operational efficiency, strengthens corporate social responsibility, and boosts economic viability. At Pneumatic Engineering, we are committed to sustainability in both our internal practices and the solutions we provide. Our partnership with ELGi, a global leader in air compressor manufacturing, enables us to offer innovative, energy-efficient, and socially responsible solutions to businesses across Western Australia.
Energy-Efficient Products
Oil-Free Compressors
One of the cornerstones of sustainability is energy efficiency, and ELGi designs its air compressors with this in mind. ELGi’s oil-free compressors eliminate the need for oil lubrication, reducing friction and, subsequently, energy consumption. This also preserves the purity of the compressed air output, mitigating the risk of environmental contamination. These compressors promote cleaner operations, especially in industries prioritising sustainability, such as mining, oil and gas, and food and beverage.
ELGi EG Permanent Magnet Screw Compressor
ELGi continues to push the boundaries of compressor efficiency with the EG Permanent Magnet Screw Compressor, designed for optimal performance and sustainability. This advanced compressor offers up to 17% reduction in power consumption, thanks to its Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which achieves IE5+ efficiency—the highest industry standard for energy efficiency.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
ELGi also integrates Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) into its compressor systems. These drives adjust the motor speed to match compressed air demand, significantly reducing energy consumption during periods of low demand. By optimising airflow and reducing energy wastage, VFD-equipped compressors help businesses lower their energy costs and carbon footprint.
Sustainable Manufacturing Practices
Sustainability goes beyond product innovation; it requires a commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing. ELGi has implemented several measures to minimise waste, conserve energy, and enhance resource efficiency across its production facilities.
Water Conservation and Circular Economy
ELGi is committed to reducing its freshwater consumption by 50% by 2026-2027 through initiatives such as water recycling systems and rainwater harvesting. In addition, the company embraces circular economy principles by recycling foundry sand and metal scraps, transforming waste into usable materials and reducing landfill contributions.
Renewable Energy Initiatives
ELGi is expanding its clean energy portfolio with investments in renewable energy sources. By partnering with First Energy 5 Private Limited, ELGi has integrated 1 MW of wind energy into its operations, reducing emissions and enhancing energy sustainability.
Zero-Waste-to-Landfill Commitment
ELGi has set an ambitious goal to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2026-2027. By systematically reducing carbon intensity and optimising waste management, the company continues to lead the way in sustainable industrial practices.
Social Initiatives
Sustainability extends beyond environmental considerations. ELGi is deeply invested in corporate social responsibility (CSR), supporting educational and vocational initiatives that empower communities and create opportunities for future generations.
ELGi School
For over 36 years, ELGi has operated a school in Coimbatore, India, providing high-quality, subsidised education to children from low-income families. The school serves 1,350 students with a 55:45 female-to-male ratio and has a dedicated team of 60 teachers. Orphaned children receive free education, and the institution remains committed to fostering equitable access to learning.
ELGi’s Vocational Training Program
To bridge the gap between education and employability, ELGi established a vocational training school that provides technical education to young students from disadvantaged backgrounds. With courses covering machining, welding, and electrical work, this program equips students with practical skills and provides financial support during their training. Graduates are often absorbed into ELGi’s workforce, ensuring a sustainable career pathway.

Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and at Pneumatic Engineering, we are proud to work alongside ELGi to deliver energy-efficient, socially responsible, and environmentally conscious solutions. Our partnership enables businesses across Western Australia to reduce their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency.
